Detroit -- So many people turned in firearms Thursday at a police gun buyback event that officials had to issue vouchers for payment. More than 400 broken and working pistols, rifles and shotguns were turned in within three hours at Second Ebenezer Church, earning participants $20,000.
DPS unveils $10.7M renovation project
Detroit -- Detroit Public Schools unveiled Thursday the first completed construction project under a $500.5 million bond construction program. John R. King pre-kindergarten to eighth-grade school received a $10.7 million renovation, marking the first of the 18 schools expected to be restored or rebuilt under the bond program Detroiters approved in November.
